SAMPLE PREParation and XRD accessories

We are pleased to offer a line of electropolishing products to support your XRD measurements. Developed for electropolishing large samples in the field and small samples in the lab, our electropolishing solutions simplify residual stress vs. depth and retained austenite vs. depth data collection.

ELECTROLYTIC POLISHER

The Proto Electropolisher Model 8818-V3 is a lightweight, compact, rugged tool for etching and polishing tasks. It is useful for residual stress measurements with depth determination because it can remove layers from the specimen without incurring cold-working stresses. It can also be used for general-purpose metallurgical prep.

ELECTROLYTE "A"

A safe, non-toxic electrolytic solution developed by Proto. Very effective in electropolishing many different materials. A great alternative to standard electrolytes. Available in one-liter bottles.

Standards and powders

Our certified reference materials are carefully produced in our ISO/IEC 17025:2005 accredited laboratories so that your x-ray diffraction system is properly calibrated to standards such as ASTM E915 and ASTM E975.

Diffraction CRM: LaB6 powder, alumina powder, and silicon powder
Residual Stress CRM:
High-stress coupons and low-stress powders (steel, stainless steel, aluminum, titanium, and nickel)
Retained Austenite CRM: 2%, 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, and 30%
Laue CRM: Single-crystal silicon block

Maintenance kits

All of our XRD systems are available with maintenance kits that enable our customers to perform routine maintenance and calibration. Regular calibration ensures that the system is consistently producing the highest quality data possible.

One of our most popular kits is an alignment kit that allows users to calibrate their residual stress systems to ASTM E915 standards conveniently in the lab or field without the need for a service call.

RADIATION SAFETY

We value the safety of our customers and want to ensure that all our customers are protected from x-ray exposure. All of our instruments are compliant with ANSI N43.2 radiation regulations.

A wide variety of safety products are available: enclosures and barrier screens, light curtains, Geiger counters, x-ray beacons, and custom safety solutions. After purchasing your equipment, Proto can help you ensure full compliance with your local radiation regulations.
